Today the journey started at 3:00 am. My father drove Laura and me to the Zurich Airport and he helped us drop off the suitcases. Then for the first time ever I went through the security check without my parents. I have to admit that it was a very strange feeling. We already new to which gate we had to go, and it was quite easy to find it. On around 7:00 am the plane took off and the nervousness slowly disappeared the longer we flew. When we got out of the plane, we had to get our baggage and search our transfer. At this time, I wasn’t nervous anymore but the longer we drove and the nearer we got to the host family the more nervous I got again. I already looked at the house on Google Maps, so I knew how it looked like and when I saw it in front of me my heartbeat was racing. Because I didn’t know how to behave with my host family.
First, we saw Laura’s family and then we saw my host mother and as I started talking to them, my nervousness faded again. My host mother is really nice. She showed me my room and explained everything to me. Later that day, Laura and I decided to go see where the school is and we walked to the town centre. We totally underestimated the way, it took us almost 40 minutes to get there. We were in some shops and tried to get some orientation about which shops and restaurants are where to find. We wanted to take the bus back to our houses but unfortunately, we didn’t really understand how it works and where the bus stops are. That’s why we decided to walk all the way back.

That’s pretty much all we did the first day. Tomorrow is the first day of school and of course I am getting nervous about it but I think it will be fine. I just hope that we will find some friends and have a funny time with them. I still can’t realize that I’m going to live here for 4 weeks but I’m really looking forward to it.
